Simon Brown is a Denver native who is passionate and enthusiastic about music education. He is currently in his final semester at MSU Denver, where he is finishing his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance. He began his musical journey at the age of 11, playing trombone at Morey Middle School and eventually moving on to play at East High School. It was at East in 2005, while under the tutelage of Keith Oxman, that a passion for music was fully fostered. It was also at this time that Brian became enamored with the piano and began to teach himself chords and scales. He began to slowly add to his piano repertoire at this time and had a fascination with Scott Joplin and Frederic Chopin.

From there, Simon has gone on to play trombone in big bands at the University of Colorado under the direction of Brad Goode and at Metropolitan State University under the direction of Ron Miles, Dave DeVine and Don Byron. Simon has learned from and worked with incredible professionals while at Metro. He has performed in bands at Metro as a pianist under the direction of Justin Adams, Dave DeVine, Gonzalo Teppa, Adam Bartczak and Shane Endsley. It was in 2012 that Simon began studying with Justin Adams and Carmen Sandim at Metro State. He remains a student in the studio of Justin Adams to this day. Simon is passionate about helping younger musicians learn the skills they will need to succeed.
