Tara Suprunowicz

Tara Suprunowicz began playing violin in 2nd grade at the age of 7, utilizing the Suzuki method. Her private violin teacher inspired her throughout her schooling and influenced her love for classical music. In high school Tara joined the Empire State Youth Orchestra, which allowed her to travel throughout Europe, touring with the orchestra. She spent her summers participating in musical camps including Point CounterPoint Chamber Music as well as the School of Orchestral Studies through the New York State School of the Arts.

When attending Bucknell University, Tara played in the University Orchestra. Though Tara didn’t major in Music, she received a music scholarship, which allowed her to continue her studies in violin. She actively participated in the University Orchestra throughout her studies and was concertmaster for two out of her four years.

Following graduation, Tara moved to Japan to teach English for two years on a small island called Amami Oshima. Despite not bringing her violin, she discovered a small developing orchestra and was delighted to join. Here she was a section leader and taught group lessons to members of all ages. She also joined the Amami String Quartet and partook in concerts and ceremonies to promote the Amami Orchestra.
