Culley Lesch has been playing music since the age of 10, starting on bass and piano before joining the concert band in middle school. Throughout his schooling, Culley focused on clarinet while also playing saxophone and tuba in the marching band. In his studies at the University of South Carolina, he participated in the clarinet and piano studios while majoring in music theory. He has completed doctoral and master’s level coursework, including the Eastman School of Music's Contemporary Music Theory class in Paris, France, as well as Schenkerian Analysis.

Since moving to Colorado, Culley has shifted his focus to modern piano styles. In 2023, he played keyboard in The Candlelight's production of Cats: The Musical for 60 performances. He currently performs funk and rock at open jams around Denver.

Culley's teaching philosophy stems from his classical concert band background. He has studied under Scott Rush, co-writer of the famous Habits of a Successful Band Musician. Culley’s approach to curriculum is flexible and tailored to each student, thanks to his comprehensive training in both brass and woodwind instruments. Every student has different needs and goals, and Culley works to provide a solid foundation while ensuring each student's education is unique. He also places major emphasis on technique and form to promote tension-free playing for a longer musical life. He looks forward to building new musical relationships and creating a relaxed learning environment in the years to come.
