Dan Christian is a seasoned music educator who has been teaching for over thirty years. Dan received his Bachelors of Music Education from University of Northern Colorado in 1985 and received his Masters of Music Education from Colorado State University in 2005. He has taught band, orchestra, choir, piano lab, and general music in a school setting, along with private lessons in voice, violin, viola, guitar, and bass. Dan has recently retired from public school teaching and shifted his focus to private lessons.
One of Dan’s favorite musical memories from his childhood was when he played a trombone solo for the local solo and ensemble festival with a broken right arm and received a 1+! He had lots of success playing trombone and singing in choir as he was going through school. After he graduated from University of Northern Colorado, he taught band for several years and then received opportunities to teach orchestra. Finding he was especially gifted in this area of teaching, he pursued further development in strings education. He has been playing violin for a total of 15 years and is certified in the Suzuki Method. He has played bass and electric bass for about 20 years and has played jazz bass semi-professionally. Currently, he plays bass with the worship team at his church. Dan started playing guitar in his first year of teaching in 1985 and has consistently played guitar since 2014. He also has many notable singing performances under his belt, including the Colorado Rockies Choir Day, and singing the Star Spangled Banner at Coors Field with the Kennedy High School Choir.
When Dan comes to teach in your home, he will spend time getting to know your child, working on music in the chosen curriculum, encouraging and developing student’s playing abilities through games and appropriate age level activities. Dan wants every student to play with a beautiful sound, develop good technique on their chosen instrument and have fun playing!
