Guitar
Mike Christou discovered his passion for music at the age of 13 when he first picked up the guitar. His earliest influences came from rock and metal bands. After a hiatus from the guitar during his music degrees, where he focused on composition and learning the piano, he rededicated himself to the instrument. Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he honed his skills in composing and orchestrating music. He further advanced his expertise with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Orchestration for Media and Video Game Composition from Thinkspace Education, focusing on the intricate art of creating music for media.
Having had the good fortune to encounter many amazing music teachers along the way, Mike was inspired to share his passion and knowledge with others, fueled by a desire to help them discover their own love for performing and writing music. Mike combines technical expertise with creative exploration in his teaching practice, tailoring lessons to each student’s unique goals. He emphasizes a balance of theory, fretboard knowledge, technique, creative expression, and fun, ensuring every student progresses towards their personal goals. Above all, Mike strives to foster a lifelong appreciation for music in his students. Whether it’s learning to play a favorite song, preparing for a performance, or building skills for a future in music, Mike is committed to nurturing his students’ growth and success.
