Jenny Shawhan started taking piano lessons when she was 7 years old. Her great grandmother was a piano teacher and some of her fondest childhood memories are singing and playing gospel hymns with her grandma. As early as 3 years old, she remembers how she loved being outside in the summertime, creating her own melodies and singing on top of her big green turtle sandbox. In third grade, inspiration came from Mrs. Holbrook, her grade school music teacher, who cast her in a Christmas play as the lead female role. Jenny found herself making everyone laugh, and really fell in love with being on stage.

Soon Jenny began participating in church and school choirs, playing trumpet and violin in middle school and gaining admission into an award-winning competition showchoir in high school. During her senior year, Jenny was a frequent soloist and was awarded “Best Female Vocalist” in her high school choir. She went on to attend Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Music for Commercial Vocal Performance with a Music Business Emphasis. After graduating from Belmont, Jenny obtained a master’s degree in Education.

Jenny is a singer-songwriter who now performs professionally all throughout Colorado. She is also a studio session singer and a sought-after vocalist for Denver’s top acts. She has sung in the popular Colorado cover band Funkiphino, in which her most notable appearance was performing at the 2016 Broncos Super Bowl Parade to a crowd of approximately one million people, opening for Big Head Todd. She has also performed shows alongside her mentor Hazel Miller, and hosted Grammy events escorting Alison Krauss, one of her all time favorite singers. Jenny has collaborated and cowritten songs with some of Nashville’s class acts including AMA winner Moe Loughran and Bill Cuomo, writer of “Oh Sherrie” and “Betty Davis Eyes." She is currently working on her next single release, which is produced by L.A.’s Billboard #1 hit producer, Richard Harris.

Jenny began teaching private music lessons and quickly realized that she has a wealth of knowledge to offer to students of any age and skill level. Teaching makes her a better performer, and performing makes her a better teacher. Every student who studies with Jenny will learn how to perform with techniques that supports the longevity of their music career. She supports her students learning by first getting to know them, and then guiding them to find small successes quickly and building upon each one a step at a time. Jenny’s goal is to have fun while teaching the fundamentals of what creates a lifelong lover and student of music.

Jenny currently offers voice lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, and piano and guitar lessons to beginning students of any age. She is an excellent fit for students with an interest in songwriting, performing, music business, or any student who is looking to improve their skills and become the musician they want to be.
