Jordan Taylor is a passionate musician who has been performing and writing music for eighteen years.  He plays drums and concert percussion, piano, bass guitar, woodwind, and brass instruments.  He first started learning music by studying the piano in private lessons, which inspired him to devote his life and career to the wonderful art of teaching and performing music.

Jordan taught music in the public school system for five years and has been teaching private lessons since 2009.  He has given instruction in music theory, music history, aural skills, and even electronic music notation in addition to instrumental performance techniques. Percussion is a specialty of his, in which he has experience teaching concert, marching, and drum set performance techniques.

He attended Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where he studied Music Education and also earned a certificate in Percussion Performance.  During his time there, he performed with the Marching Mountaineers, the Symphony Orchestra, the Percussion Ensemble, and the Jazz Ensemble; he also was the principle percussionist of the Wind Ensemble and was selected by audition to be a part of the prestigious Appalachian Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra.  He was also a member of the men’s music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha, and served as president and choir director for the group.

During his studies at Appalachian State, he also experienced the Alexander Technique, which emphasizes healthy and efficient use of the body to prevent pains and aches that may develop over time with harmful habits related to musical performance. This changed the way Jordan approached music and everyday life, and he wishes to share valuable insights that promote easy movement, virtuosic performance, and good health with his students.

In his free time, Jordan also enjoys practicing yoga, discovering new hiking and biking trails, being outdoors to enjoy the gorgeous Colorado weather, and traveling to new places.
