Voice

Benjamin's musical journey began in his middle school years, when he played the violin and piano in the band. After the school voice teacher heard  him singing in the hall one day, Ben was reluctantly recruited into the middle school chorus. While performing with the Prince George's County Honors Chorus at the Kennedy Center, Benjamin was encouraged to audition for the Suitland High School Voice & Performing Arts Program. After auditioning and being accepted, Benjamin began four years of intensive musical and voice training.

During the summer of 2008, Benjamin was accepted into the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, a prestigious audition-based classical summer workshop featuring the country's most talented young musicians and classical singers. He would return to Tanglewood for the summer of 2009 as well.

After graduating high school, Benjamin briefly attended Westminster Choir College before taking a sabbatical. He was offered a chance to do a recital for a small local theatre in Taos, NM, and would go on to perform with the Taos Community Chorus, singing the tenor Solos for Gounod's St. Cecilia's mass and Handel's Messiah. In February of 2017, in collaboration with pianist Claire Detels, Benjamin performed a recital in dedication to great composers in black history. This show was the first of its kind in Taos. Benjamin's other performances have included the televised "Christmas in Washington" for President Bush, his family and friends in December of 2008, as well as The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial and a guest performance at the Princeton Chapel of Princeton University, New Jersey.

Benjamin's classical teaching style caters to every genre, as the basics of singing techniques are generally universal. Though he specialises in classical vocal techniques, Ben has taught students of all ages and interests, from opera singers to hard rock musicians, and everything in between.
