Vincent Russo is currently attending Metro State University in Denver pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance. He plays piano, guitar, and works on singing as much as he can. He started his musical journey when he was 10 years old, twelve years later, he is still as excited about learning and understanding the craft of music as he was then. He started with guitar at first and then became fascinated by the piano. Vincent has been playing piano since 2009 and guitar since 2001. At first his study on the piano was self-taught, because he learned through his prior knowledge of understanding music theory from guitar. Later at Metro State University he learned about piano instruction including scales, arpeggios, and voice-leading exercises. He has been in numerous bands and written his own material. In high school he started a guitar club, an organization for students to get together and play their instruments, this club still exists today.

Vincent grew up with a love for rock n’ roll music. AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, and more, this was the music that inspired him to begin playing guitar as a kid. Later, he got more into alternative music like Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, and more. As he got older he began to love Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Ravel, and Debussy; all the great composers of centuries past. Then he got into Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Vince Guaraldi, Bill Evans and so many other jazz greats. Vincent's musical tastes are quite eclectic; as a teacher he can work with anyone on any style they wish. There is something to take from every style of music, from Metallica to Bach to Taylor Swift to John Mayer. It is Vincent's firm belief that music should inspire people, not be extra homework after school is over; it needs to be fun and exciting, not boring and laborious.

As a teacher, Vincent's first goal for any student is to be sure they have fun with it! Music can be daunting at first, but if you stick with it the rewards are endless. There is no better feeling than finally being able to play your favorite artist’s song. He is patient and a good listener, he want's to help students pursue their musical journey and get on the right track to what they want to accomplish with music.
