Mark Castellano began his musical career at the age of 15. He started out performing in local and regional bands and by the age of 18 he was teaching private students. He began playing guitar at the age of 9 and at age 12 began taking lessons from Lou Ubriaco, a tri-state area famous guitarist to whom Mark owes much of his guitar technique. Mark learned a lot about piano and theory in 1996 by studying under the expert tutelage of world famous accordion player Carmen Carrozza, who also played piano and violin.

From 2001 to 2006 Mark taught his own private lessons, and toured with a band all over the East Coast, while playing various jazz gigs all over Westchester County, Connecticut and New England. During this time Mark was teaching afterschool programs at various elementary and middle schools and writing original music.

Before Mark moved to Colorado to pursue his dream of getting a formal music-teachers license, he performed in a touring band produced by Rick Chertoff, producer of such acts as Joan Osbourne and Cindy Lauper. The band had produced three albums and a couple of side projects. However, Mark saw the band was going in a direction that was not for him. Having a degree in Music Composition from Purchase College in New York, he decided to go back to school and get his Master’s Degree in Music Composition at Hartford University. Although the faculty loved his original Classical Piano compositions, Mark changed his course and decided instead that it would be a better fit to pursue a Music Education degree. Finished now with the K-12 licensure program started in 2008, Mark graduated and is now pursuing his Masters in Education from Concordia University.

Mark has performed at all types of venues in New York and Colorado such as jazz piano for the Colorado History Museum, the BlackCrown piano lounge, water clubs, rock gigs, Punk, Ska, and much more.

Since 2008, Mark has been furthering his Jazz piano skills under the instruction of Justin Adams, a locally famous and wonderfully skilled piano teacher at Metropolitan State University in Denver. This is also where Mark was taking lessons for Classic Piano with Dr. Tamara Goldstein and Peter Friesen.

Mark believes that everyone has the ability to learn a musical instrument. He enjoys helping students experience music and getting exactly what they want out of learning music.
