Angie Olsen

Angie Olsen has been playing the piano since she was about 8 years old. Growing up in Salt Lake City, she won several ribbons playing piano and singing in music competitions through a network of Christian Academies. Her playing style showcases mostly classical influences like Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, though more recently she has added some romantic and lively ragtime pieces to her repertoire. She has also played in a local alternative rock band, assisting with the creative process of writing bass lines for original rock pieces.

Angie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music at Metropolitan State University, Colorado. Angie's passion for music was inspired in no small part by her grandfather, Donald P. Olsen, a music major from Brigham Young University. Donald taught music at Jordan High School in Utah and was First Violinist for the Utah Symphony, where he met Angie’s grandmother Eloise, who was then the pianist for the Symphony. Angie enjoys watching music make an impression on the lives of people all over the world.

Angie's lessons utilize a variety of tools to help each student learn a combination of sight reading, ear training and some theory.   She teaches students of all ages, from children to adults, and tailors each lesson to best suit the individual, making learning enjoyable and fun!
