Music has been in Linnea Rowley’s life since she first plunked out Mary Had A Little Lamb on the piano at the age of six. Raised in a household steeped in classical music, she soon picked up the violin and, later, the oboe. She received a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the Eastman School of Music and a master of music degree from the Shepherd School at Rice University, and has performed in orchestras such as the Colorado Symphony, the Boulder Philharmonic, the Amarillo Symphony, and the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra.

Linnea began teaching privately in Houston while attending Rice University. She quickly amassed a studio of many middle and high school students in several school districts, and was often consulted to teach clinics and masterclasses to groups of students.

Like Linnea herself, her taste in music is multi-faceted. She particularly enjoys discovering music from movies and video games, and has found that this helps her connect to many of her students. She believes that lessons should, above all else, be fun for the student, and her primary goal when teaching is to help younger people discover what they love about music.
