An educator, conductor, and performer, Dr. Mark Hudson has taught private lessons throughout his career, and enjoys the moments when students begin to understand their connection to music and life, beyond simple enjoyment. Dr. Hudson is a strong proponent of connecting the instrument, mind, ear, and heart in a quest to realize the full potential of the student in music and in life.
Dr. Hudson has been involved with arts education in various roles for many years. He is a founding member of the Colorado Arts Education Coalition, and was appointed by the Governor of Colorado to the State High School Graduation Guidelines Development Council. An active advocate for the arts in education, he served on the Colorado Academic Standards Music Review Subcommittee, the Colorado Content Collaborative in Music, and the Music Curriculum Development Task Force. Dr. Hudson regularly assists schools as an independent consultant for development in the arts, and particularly in music.
Dr. Hudson is currently Associate Professor of Music at Colorado Christian University, where he serves as Coordinator of Music Education, supervises student teachers and classroom field experiences, advises music education students, and teaches courses in music education. Dr. Hudson was honored to serve the Colorado Music Educators Association as President of the Association, and continues active membership on the College-University Council as a representative. An active scholar and researcher, Dr. Hudson is a regular presenter at the International Symposium on Assessment in Music Education.
Dr. Hudson currently offers voice and brass lessons to students of all skill levels, as well as piano lessons to beginning students. He is also a wonderful fit for any student who is interested in conducting.
