Dominik Von Pichl began his musical study at 8 years old, with piano lessons under Ann Riggs. A few years later, Dominik also began trumpet lessons and joined several choirs. He continued exploring music, traveling with community choirs and bands, and joined the piano program at the Denver School of the Arts during High School. He graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Piano Performance degree and Music Education degree focusing on trumpet. While there, Dominik studied with Professor Hsing-Ay Hsu and Dr. Micheal Hengst. Former teachers include Dr. Dave Shuey and Dr. Tamara Goldstein.

Dominik enjoys ensemble performance and throughout the years has participated in wind ensemble, orchestra, chamber ensembles, early music ensemble, symphonic band, accompanying, brass ensemble, pep band, jazz orchestra, and pit orchestra for musical theatre while attending Metro State. He has also played in master classes with Anton Nel, Anne Schein, Kesenia Nosikova, Sheila Paige, Petronel Malan, Dr. Kassandra Keeling, William Westney, Dallas Weeley, and Nancy Arganbright.

As a recent winner of the Romancing the Keys Piano Concerto Competition, Dominik performed George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Metropolitan State University Symphony Orchestra in March 2011. Dominik was recently inducted into the National Music Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude in May 2012. As a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, he received a music education scholarship in 2011. Dominik attended and volunteered at the MTNA National Conference in 2007 as well as maintained membership in the student chapter of DMCC. He recently joined CMEA and will attend the conference in Colorado Springs on a yearly basis.

Dominik looks forward to completing his Masters in Music Education while running a private piano studio.
