From a young age, Jason McGinnis embarked on his musical journey by starting private piano lessons at the age of five, dedicating twelve years to his craft. Throughout Middle School and High School, he was actively involved in various music programs, honing his skills as both a drummer and pianist. His participation included concert bands, jazz ensembles, jazz combos, symphonic bands, show choirs, and musicals. Notably, Jason performed as a drummer and pianist for the All State Colorado Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. After spending a semester as a music major at The University of Colorado in Boulder, he chose to serve his country and auditioned to perform music for the United States Army.
With over 25 years of professional experience, Jason is a music education leader specializing in drum and piano instruction. Based in Castle Pines, Colorado, he has guided students of all levels to become confident musicians ready for the stage or studio. Combining innovative techniques with time-tested methods, Jason tailors lessons to each student’s goals while pursuing his own education to continually enhance his teaching. Jason’s extensive experience spans the globe, including teaching and performing in England, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Mexico, and the U.S. He has recorded at prestigious studios like The Blasting Room and Sonic Ranch, bringing real-world insights into his lessons. As a U.S. Army-trained drummer and an Armed Forces School of Music graduate, Jason blends precision and creativity in his instruction, ensuring lessons are engaging and effective.
