Mateo Sagovia began learning violin when he was seven years old. He continued playing and was a long term member of his middle school orchestra. He then attended Booker T Washington HSPVA for violin in the orchestral and symphonic programs under the tutelage of DSO violinist Sho-Mei Pelletier.
Two years after he started learning violin, he began studying guitar with Mac Price Junior (Dixie Chicks) and later went on to study with Mario daSliva and John Pell. Mateo has played in various groups, from contemporary, to jazz, to gigging frequently with his local band. Additionally, he participated in a jazz singers ensemble, which would perform often.
Mateo is currenntly working on a degree in commercial music, with an emphasis on guitar performance, at Belmont University in Nashville.
