Guitar
Kharis Stevens has been involved in music since she was very young. Her love of singing was cultivated through participation in choir both in school and in church, and she began learning guitar at the age of twelve. She quickly fell in love with singing and playing for youth group gatherings, and soon began to write her own songs.
Kharis went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Worship Arts from Colorado Christian University. During her time at CCU, she was involved in both the University Choir and the University Women’s Choir, studied guitar and voice, and recorded her debut album. She currently works in worship ministry with a church in Arvada, CO, and is a paraprofessional for a kindergarten program where she has taught music and assisted with classroom instruction. Kharis is passionate about helping each student to explore and cultivate a love of music, all in the context of a collaborative, positive and encouraging environment where teacher and student work together. She tailors her lessons to the unique needs, interests, and abilities of each student and sets clear expectations in order to help students to reach their musical goals.
A versatile musician, Kharis has performed at various small venues around Denver, and currently teaches acoustic guitar to beginning students, striving to inspire and encourage a lifelong love of music.
