Guitar, Mandolin
Alexander Seames is an experienced performance and studio musician and songwriter. Alexander first began playing guitar, bass, and trombone at the age of 12 and began performing professionally while in high school. During this time he also developed a love for the mandolin and incorporating slide guitar into his performances. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he grew a great deal in his understanding of learning and development, while also taking music courses such as history of jazz and psychology of music.
Throughout college and beyond, Alexander continued to be active in the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene, frequently performing in venues such as the Granada Theater, The Fort Worth Stockyards, and The Texas Opry. He has opened for big-name artists such as Shenandoah, Gary P. Nunn, Zac Stokes, Chance Ray, and Casey James. Alexander's personal style developed from an early love of classic rock and blues playing, mixed with jazz-infused western swing and country; however, he is quite versatile and has performed with a variety of artists across many genres and styles. Alexander now resides in Denver, Colorado, and offers guitar and mandolin lessons to students of all ages.
Alexander's psychological background enables him to effectively motivate his students and to set goals that are tailored toward each unique individual's goals and interests. Cultivating a passion for the instrument is key, since a love of playing leads to consistent practice and development as a musician. Alexander helps his students to set milestones to look forward to, so that they can feel a rightful sense of accomplishment after the efforts they have made. He believes that a healthy dose of music theory, taught through the lens of whatever most sparks a student's excitement and creativity, makes for an insightful and fun learning process.
